(WAYNESVILLE, N.C.) SMOKIES.LIVE – After months of being closed, the Waynesville Branch of the Haywood County Public Library will reopen.
The official reopening is February 23, 2026. The library has been closed for several months for safety improvements including a major roof and HVAC replacement project.
“We’re not just repairing a building—we’re creating a safer, more energy-efficient environment where people of all ages can gather, discover, and grow,” the library said on Facebook.
Visitors will also notice brand-new flooring, fresh exterior paint, brighter lighting, refreshed collections, and a new community gathering space designed to bring people together. We can’t wait to welcome cardholders back to a more modern, inviting library experience.
The Waynesville Branch is open Monday and Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
