The free Oct. 3 event will feature local vendors, food trucks, family activities, animal rescues and a drive to collect 1,000 items for FISH Hospitality Pantry.
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (Smokies.LIVE Events Center) — A new community market is coming to South Knoxville on Oct. 3, bringing together local businesses, food vendors, animal rescues and family activities while collecting donations for a local food pantry.
The Chic Flips Community Market will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. Admission is free.
The event will feature local vendors and makers selling vintage items, handmade goods, jewelry, clothing, crochet, candles, plants and other products. Food trucks also will be on site.
Families can participate in free face painting, visit inflatables and see character appearances throughout the day.
The event also will feature a “Rescue Row,” where attendees can meet representatives from local animal rescues and nonprofit organizations.
Organizers are also launching a community donation challenge with a goal of collecting 1,000 items for FISH Hospitality Pantry.
Attendees are encouraged to bring nonperishable food, coats, new socks and new underwear in all sizes. Organizers say donations can range from a single item to an entire bag of supplies.
The market is being hosted by Chic Flips Home Transitions, which describes the event as an opportunity to bring people together while supporting local businesses, nonprofits and animal rescues.
Organizers say additional vendors, Rescue Row participants, giveaways and activities will be announced ahead of the event.
The event’s founding sponsors include AirMedCare Network, Mortgage Investors Group, Springdale Title, Live in the Smokies and Oak Ridge Floral Company. Summit Lakes Media is the official media partner.
Magic Lamp Entertainment and Party Planet Inflatables will provide family entertainment.
Organizers say the goal is to create more than a traditional vendor market by giving families an opportunity to shop locally, enjoy food and entertainment and contribute to community organizations.
The Chic Flips Community Market is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 3, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in South Knoxville.
