Rolling roadblocks and lane closures are scheduled Sunday through Tuesday as crews conduct bridge inspections
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (Smokies.LIVE Travel Center) — Drivers traveling through Knoxville should expect traffic impacts next week as crews conduct bridge inspection and construction work along Interstate 40 and Interstate 640.
Beginning around 7 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 4, crews will inspect the bridge on the ramp from I-40 East to I-640 West, just east of downtown Knoxville.
Intermittent rolling roadblocks will be used on I-40 East and West, I-640 East to I-40 East and West, and I-40 West to I-640 West while crews work.
Additional lane closures are scheduled Monday and Tuesday.
From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, Oct. 5, the left lane will be closed on I-40 East and West at the I-640 interchange. The right lane of the I-40 East to I-640 West ramp also will be closed.
From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6, the right lane of the I-40 East to I-640 West ramp will be closed.
Drivers should be prepared for delays and allow extra travel time when traveling through the interchange.
