9/11 Memorial – The Man Who Identified the Victims

A Sevier County native who helped recover and identify victims following the Sept. 11 attacks will return to Alcatraz East Crime Museum this month to share his firsthand experience at Ground Zero. Arthur M. “Art” Bohanan, a sixth-generation Sevier County native and forensic expert, will be the museum’s special guest speaker Sept. 12 as part of a program marking the 25th anniversary of the attacks. Bohanan was one of the first six responders from Tennessee to travel to Ground Zero following the attacks on the World Trade Center. As a Certified Latent Print Examiner and Senior Forensic Examiner, Bohanan and his team were tasked with recovering and identifying victims of the attacks. His presentation, “Forensics at Ground Zero: Disaster Response after September 11th,” will focus on his experiences as a member of the Ground Zero forensic team and the lasting impact of the work performed in the aftermath of the tragedy. Bohanan will also take questions from the audience. The presentation will be offered twice on Sept. 12, from noon to 12:30 p.m. and again from 1:30 to 2 p.m. The program is included with regular museum admission, but seating is limited.
