August 15 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

Get ready to step back in time at the East Tennessee History Fair on Saturday, August 15!

Be sure to make the Tennessee Theatre one of your stops during this FREE, family-friendly celebration of our region’s history and America’s 250th anniversary.

🎬 At the Tennessee Theatre:
🎞️ 11 AM – See a rare screening of These Mountains Are Home, a 1976 Bicentennial documentary produced by WATE news manager Allen Keller celebrating the rich cultural heritage of Appalachia. This special presentation also includes never-before-publicly-screened outtakes from the film.
🏛️ 12 PM & 2 PM – Explore the historic Tennessee Theatre during special Open House tours.
🎥 1 PM – Watch Remix the Past, a showcase of creative short films inspired by the theme “Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.”
⭐ 3 PM – Don’t miss a FREE screening of the classic musical film 1776, featuring Knoxville’s own John Cullum as Edward Rutledge. It’s the perfect grand finale to a day of history, storytelling, and celebration!

With living history demonstrations, music, crafts, family activities, and more happening throughout downtown, the East Tennessee History Fair has something for everyone.
