(KODAK, Tenn.) SMOKIES.LIVE – We have a baby eagle! The first bald eagle hatched to start the 250th anniversary of the United States.

The American Eagle Foundation shared a video of the eagle hatching on January 1, 2026. You can see the eaglet being fed by the adult bald eagle in the video.

The baby eagle was the first hatch this year through the American Eagle Foundation in Kodak, TN.

American Eagle Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that runs entirely off of donations, sponsorships, and merchandise sales.  The foundation is dedicated to inspiring the global community to guard and protect the Bald Eagle and all birds of prey.

For over 200 years, the Bald Eagle has served as a majestic living symbol of the United States. It was adopted as the national emblem by our country’s Founding Fathers at the Second Continental Congress in 1782.

  1. Hi Kyle! Just to clarify, this eaglet was not born at American Eagle Foundation in Kodak, but on a wild eagle nest that is monitored by AEF (in Florida). Still wonderful and exciting!
