Deputy Gov. Stuart McWhorter highlights Tennessee’s business climate, creative workforce and technology sector in letter to CEO David Ellison.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee is making a pitch to become the next home for expanded operations from Paramount Skydance Corporation.
Deputy Gov. and Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development Commissioner Stuart C. McWhorter sent a letter July 2 to Paramount Skydance Chairman and CEO David Ellison, congratulating the company on its new chapter and encouraging leadership to consider Tennessee for future growth.
In the letter, McWhorter highlighted Tennessee’s business-friendly environment, growing technology sector and nationally recognized creative industries as reasons the state could be a strong fit for the entertainment company.
“Few leaders have the opportunity to redefine an iconic company while simultaneously shaping the future of an industry,” McWhorter wrote. “As you look ahead, I encourage you to consider Tennessee as the home for that future.”
McWhorter pointed to Tennessee’s low taxes, predictable governance and focus on private-sector growth as advantages for companies looking to expand.
The commissioner also emphasized the state’s connection between creativity, technology and innovation, noting Tennessee’s presence in industries including healthcare, advanced manufacturing, digital content and entertainment.
“Tennessee offers a deep and diverse talent pipeline — from administrative and business professionals to software engineers, technologists, innovators, creators, musicians, entertainers and storytellers,” McWhorter wrote.
The letter highlighted Nashville’s reputation as a global creative hub while noting that talent and innovation extend throughout the state.
McWhorter also cited Tennessee’s workforce development programs, including Tennessee Promise and Tennessee Reconnect, as examples of efforts aimed at preparing workers for evolving industries.
The state’s location was another selling point, with McWhorter noting Tennessee’s access to markets and talent through its central location in the United States. He specifically pointed to Nashville International Airport’s continued growth and connectivity.
Beyond business advantages, McWhorter said Tennessee’s communities and quality of life make the state attractive for companies and employees.
“This is a state where people still believe in service, community, and the importance of family,” McWhorter wrote. “Our Volunteer spirit is more than a nickname — it is a way of life.”
Paramount Skydance Corporation was formed following the merger of Paramount Global and Skydance Media, bringing together one of Hollywood’s most recognizable entertainment brands with a technology-focused production company.
McWhorter said Tennessee officials would welcome the opportunity to discuss how the state could support Paramount Skydance’s future plans.
“We would welcome the opportunity to share our vision for how Tennessee could help shape the future of Paramount Skydance and its talented team,” McWhorter wrote.
