PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. — Cooter’s Place, the longtime Dukes of Hazzard-themed attraction in the Smoky Mountains, announced it will close its Smoky Mountain operations after nearly a quarter century.

The attraction, founded by Ben Jones, who portrayed mechanic Cooter Davenport on the television series, first opened in Gatlinburg in 2002 before later expanding to Pigeon Forge.

In a statement shared with fans, Cooter’s Place said the current season will be its final one in the Smokies and will feature a series of special events celebrating the attraction’s history and the legacy of The Dukes of Hazzard.

The farewell season is expected to include appearances by cast members Catherine Bach, Tom Wopat, Byron Cherry and Jeff Altman, along with reunions, live music and fan events.

“Our Smoky Mountain journey began in Gatlinburg back in 2002, where so many wonderful memories were made through the years,” the statement said. “Now, after nearly a quarter century in the Smokies, we are preparing for our final season there.”

No closing date was announced.

The attraction thanked visitors for their support over the years and invited fans to visit during the remainder of the season as it celebrates its final months in East Tennessee.

Cooter’s Place said its locations in Nashville, Tennessee, and Luray, Virginia, will remain open.

The business has been a popular destination for The Dukes of Hazzard fans visiting Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, featuring television memorabilia, merchandise and vehicles associated with the classic series.
