Cool off, unplug and make one more Smoky Mountain memory before the tubing season ends.

TOWNSEND, Tenn. (Smokies.LIVE NextGEN Center) — If you’re looking for one more adventure before summer officially winds down, there’s still time to grab your swim shoes and hit the river.

Smoky Mountain River Rat is wrapping up its season after Sept. 7, making now the perfect time to plan one last float through the Great Smoky Mountains.

Family owned and operated since 1995, River Rat has spent decades turning the Little River into a natural playground for families looking to unplug and enjoy the outdoors.

Known for its top-tier tubing and whitewater rafting adventures, River Rat offers visitors a chance to experience what it calls “Mother Nature’s Water Parks.”

And this isn’t just a quick float.

At the Townsend tubing outpost, visitors can choose from two tubing routes and spend the day enjoying the Little River and the scenery of the Smokies.

A Day Tubing Pass allows guests to tube once or enjoy the river all day, while Season Passes offer an option for those who want to keep coming back throughout the season.

River Rat also offers Riverside Cabana Rentals for visitors looking to turn their river adventure into a full day of relaxing along the water.

The experience goes beyond the river, too.

The outfitter offers on-site lunch options, souvenir and river gear shops, picnic areas and equipment designed to make a day on the water easy for families and groups.

And groups are welcome.

The bigger the group, the bigger the potential discount.

There’s also an incentive to book ahead: visitors can save $5 on all adventures when they book two or more days in advance.

So whether you’re looking for a family outing, a group adventure or simply one last chance to float through the Smokies before fall arrives, River Rat still has time on the calendar.

Grab your swim shoes, leave the phone behind and enjoy a day where the river is the ride.
