Freida Parton, Mayor Bryan McCarter and SCHS marching band will honor Dolly Parton with a free concert in Sevierville
SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. (Smokies.LIVE Events Center) — A Saturday morning concert in Sevierville will celebrate Dolly Parton’s legacy while giving back to the high school band that helped shape her early years.
Temple Strong Coffee will host a Dolly tribute concert at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, featuring Freida Parton, Sevier County Mayor Bryan McCarter and the Sevier County High School Marching Band.
The concert will take place in the parking lot of Temple Strong Coffee at 941 Dolly Parton Parkway.
Attendees are encouraged to wear pink, purple or their favorite Dolly Parton T-shirt.
The event is being organized by Temple Strong Coffee owners Waylon and Lessie McCarter, who wanted to honor Parton in a way that connected her legacy of music and giving back to her hometown.
“Growing up in Dolly’s hometown and graduating from the same high school that Dolly did, we wanted to honor her and give back to something that was very near and dear to her heart,” the McCarters said. “Dolly’s life was all about music and giving back, so we will honor her legacy with music, and we will give back to the high school band that she marched in.”
The tribute extends beyond the morning concert.
All profits from Temple Strong Coffee on Saturday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., will be donated to the SCHS Marching Band.
Organizers say those who cannot attend the 10 a.m. concert can still participate by stopping by the coffee shop throughout the day.
Extra parking will be available around the back of the business.
