The family-friendly haunted attraction opens Oct. 24 and runs nightly through Halloween, featuring new illusions, mazes and spooky surprises.

PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. (Smokies.LIVE Events Center) — Ghosts, goblins and spooky surprises are returning to the Smoky Mountains as Evanswood Haunted Magic Mansion prepares to open its doors for another Halloween season.

The attraction will welcome visitors nightly from 6 to 9 p.m. beginning Saturday, Oct. 24, through Halloween on Oct. 31.

Housed in an authentic 1840s landmark and home to magician and illusionist Terry Evanswood, the Haunted Magic Mansion offers a self-guided journey through dark passageways, monster-filled mazes and supernatural illusions.

Organizers say this year’s experience includes new illusions and surprises, along with the return of the mansion’s cast of ghosts and ghouls.

Plans and construction for the seasonal attraction have been underway for two months as organizers prepare for what has become a local fall tradition.

The mansion spans approximately 5,000 square feet and offers a haunted-house experience designed for visitors of different ages. While the attraction is intended to deliver chills and thrills, organizers say it avoids graphic horror and does not feature blood-and-guts effects.

Visitors can expect a mix of spooky scenery, magical illusions and unexpected encounters as they make their way through the historic building.

Organizers anticipate large crowds and say opening before Halloween gives visitors an opportunity to experience the attraction ahead of the holiday itself.

Reservations are not required, although advance reservations can be made. Tours run continuously during operating hours.

Children younger than 12 must be accompanied by an adult age 18 or older. Visitors should also be aware that some areas feature dark, narrow passages. Due to the historic nature of the building, the attraction is not wheelchair-accessible. Video recording and flash photography are prohibited.

Those entering the attraction do so at their own risk.

With Halloween approaching, Haunted Magic Mansion offers families and thrill-seekers another way to celebrate the spooky season in the Smoky Mountains.

Visitors can plan their trip for any operating night from Oct. 24 through Oct. 31, with doors open from 6 to 9 p.m.
