THE CITY OF GATLINBURG SAYS THIS IS NOT HAPPENING NOW –
Motorists are advised that the Baskins Creek Bypass will be temporarily closed on Monday, January 12, and Tuesday, January 13, to accommodate lift system work being performed by Anakeesta. The closure is necessary for crews to safely remove the lift cable as part of Anakeesta’s ongoing project to upgrade its lift vehicles. The affected section of roadway that will be closed is between Baskins Creek Bypass’ intersections with East Parkway and Stephen Drive.
Each day, the roadway will be closed from 8:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. To help minimize traffic impacts, the road will reopen briefly from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., allowing vehicles to pass through. The roadway will then close again at 3:30 p.m. and remain closed until dark. Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead and seek alternate routes when possible.
