(GATLINBURG, Tenn.) SMOKIES.LIVE – Traveling in Gatlinburg will have a few road closures to deal with later this week.
Motorists who frequently travel Baskins Creek Bypass will have temporary closures to traffic on March 11, 2026.
The closure is to accommodate lift system work being performed by Anakeesta.
FROM GATLINBURG:
Motorists are advised that the Baskins Creek Bypass will be temporarily closed to thru traffic on Wednesday, March 11, to accommodate lift system work being performed by Anakeesta.
The closure is necessary for crews to safely remove the lift cable as part of Anakeesta’s ongoing project to upgrade its lift vehicles.
The affected section of roadway that will be closed to thru traffic is between Baskins Creek Bypass’ intersections with East Parkway and Stephen Drive.
The roadway will be closed from 8:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. To help minimize traffic impacts, the road will reopen briefly from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., allowing vehicles to pass through. The roadway will then close again at 3:30 p.m. and remain closed until 6 p.m.
Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead and seek alternate routes when possible.
