School Precautionary Closure and Increased Police Presence
Pigeon Forge, Tn. – Out of an abundance of caution, Pigeon Forge Schools were temporarily placed on shutdown today following a reported threat involving a possible active shooter situation at the high school. Law enforcement officers responded immediately and conducted a thorough assessment of the campus and surrounding area.
At this time, authorities have found no evidence of an active shooter or any immediate threat to students, staff, or the public. The shutdown was implemented as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety and security of everyone on campus while officers investigated the report.
The Pigeon Forge Police Department is continuing to investigate the origin of the threat. As an added precaution, officers will maintain an increased presence around school property, including tighter patrols during arrival, dismissal, and throughout the school day.
School operations have resumed.
