Trail between City Park covered bridge and Parkway expected to reopen July 17.
SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. (SMOKIES.LIVE) — A section of the greenway near Sevierville City Park will temporarily close beginning Monday, July 13, as crews work to relocate a portion of the trail.
The closure will affect the section of greenway between the covered bridge at City Park and the Parkway. Officials say the project is expected to be completed by Friday, July 17, weather and other conditions permitting.
The relocation project is designed to address long-term damage caused by tree roots that have impacted the greenway surface over the years.
As part of the work, the trail will be moved away from the existing tree line to help prevent future root damage and improve the condition of the pathway for users.
City officials are asking residents and visitors to plan alternate routes while the temporary closure is in place.
