The Cocke County Emergency Management Agency is urging residents to avoid several areas in the Del Rio community due to flooding and a dangerous electrical hazard.
- Fugate Road near Pinehurst is not passable because of flooding.
- Downed power lines are energized (“hot”) in floodwaters near 776 Highway 107. Residents are urged to stay away from the area until utility crews can safely repair the lines.
- Additional rounds of steady, heavy rainfall are expected to begin later today and continue through the night, increasing the risk of flash flooding and making already flooded roads even more dangerous.
Officials remind everyone:
- Never drive through flooded roadways.
- Stay away from standing or moving water, especially where power lines are down.
- Monitor updates from Cocke County EMA and be prepared for rapidly changing conditions as rainfall continues.
