CHEROKEE, N.C. (Smokies.LIVE Travel Center) — Motorists traveling through the Birdtown Community in Cherokee should plan for delays as a roadway improvement project gets underway.
According to the Cherokee Department of Transportation, construction began Monday, Aug. 3, on Eagles Nest Drive, where crews are replacing a section of culvert and installing new drainage grates.
The project is expected to continue until the work is completed.
Drivers are urged to use caution while traveling through the area, as construction crews and heavy equipment will be working along the roadway. Delays are expected, and motorists should be prepared for changing traffic conditions.
The drainage improvements are designed to enhance roadway safety and improve stormwater drainage in the Birdtown Community.
