Officers recovered marijuana, crack cocaine, a handgun and cash after arresting a man wanted for questioning in a domestic assault investigation.
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (Smokies.LIVE Information Center) — Knoxville Police officers recovered drugs, a handgun and cash after a brief foot pursuit Sunday night that ended with the arrest of a 32-year-old man.
According to the Knoxville Police Department, East District officers encountered Jermaine Patterson, 32, in a vehicle parked on East Hill Avenue around 10:45 p.m. Sunday. Police said Patterson was wanted for questioning in connection with a domestic assault reported earlier in the day.
While speaking with Patterson, officers reportedly observed a large bag of suspected marijuana inside the vehicle. When officers attempted to detain him, police said Patterson fled on foot.
After a brief pursuit, officers took Patterson into custody without further incident.
Investigators said a search of the vehicle led to the discovery of approximately 230 grams of marijuana, 20 grams of crack cocaine, a handgun, digital scales and nearly $700 in cash.
Patterson has been charged with manufacture, sale and delivery of Schedule VI drugs, possession of Schedule II drugs, possession of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony, felon in possession of a weapon and evading arrest.
The charges are allegations, and Patterson is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
