PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. (Smokies.LIVE Adventure Center) — If you’re looking for a brand-new way to experience the Smokies, Dollywood has an adventure that takes you well beyond the daylight hours.
Dollywood officially celebrated the opening of NightFlight Expedition, a more than $60 million attraction that takes guests on a nighttime journey through the Smoky Mountains — and the reaction from riders was pretty simple.
“Incredible!”
That was a common description overheard as guests exited the new attraction during its dedication event.
NightFlight Expedition is the largest single attraction investment in Dollywood’s history and the park’s 11th roller coaster. The attraction has been highly anticipated since it was announced last September, with many outlets calling it one of the most talked-about theme park attractions opening this season.
And this isn’t your typical roller coaster.

NightFlight Expedition gives visitors another reason to put Dollywood on the Smoky Mountain must-do list, combining a roller coaster, water adventure, nighttime flight and immersive storytelling into one experience.
The attraction has a 39-inch height requirement and expands Wildwood Grove, which has won the Golden Ticket Award for Best Theme Park Kids’ Area every year since opening in 2019.
