Several streets in the race area will close from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Aug. 22.
WAYNESVILLE, N.C. (Smokies.LIVE Travel Center) — Drivers in Waynesville should plan for several temporary road closures Saturday evening as the Mountain Valley Mile race takes over area streets.
Closures begin at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, and are expected to remain in place until approximately 9 p.m.
🚦 ROADS CLOSED
- Grimball Drive from Morgan Street to South Main Street
- South Main Street from Hazelwood Avenue to Depot Street
Detour signs will be posted to help guide drivers around the race route.
Drivers looking to avoid the closure on South Main Street can use Waynewood Drive, Auburn Drive, Shelton Street, Pigeon Street and Wall Street.
Motorists should allow extra travel time, watch for race participants and follow posted detour signs and traffic-control directions.
All affected roads are expected to reopen around 9 p.m.
