Pisgah National Forest site will remain closed through the season as crews begin major construction
Transylvania County, N.C. (Smokies.LIVE Adventure Center) — The Sycamore Flats Recreation Area in Pisgah National Forest will close Monday, Sept. 21, as crews begin a major infrastructure improvement project.
The recreation area will remain closed for the rest of the season while construction is underway.
Forest officials are asking the public to avoid the area during the project because heavy equipment will be operating at the site.
The closure is intended to protect visitors and construction crews while the improvements are completed.
Officials said the recreation area is expected to welcome visitors again next spring once the project is finished.

The Forest Service apologized for the temporary inconvenience and thanked visitors for their patience as the improvements are completed.
