Vibrant shades of red, orange and gold remain across the region, with the iconic profile of Grandfather Mountain standing above the autumn landscape.

LINVILLE, N.C. (Smokies.LIVE Travel Center) — Fall color continues to paint North Carolina’s High Country, where brilliant shades of gold, orange and red remain widespread across the landscape.

The iconic profile of Grandfather Mountain stands watch over the colorful scenery, offering a striking view of autumn in the Blue Ridge Mountains. While the season has progressed across the region’s highest peaks, plenty of vibrant foliage remains to enjoy.

One of the well-known views of Grandfather Mountain can be seen along N.C. Highway 105 near the communities of Foscoe and Seven Devils, between Boone and Linville.

The area offers travelers a scenic opportunity to take in the changing leaves while exploring the High Country during one of the most colorful times of the year.

As fall progresses at higher elevations, foliage conditions can vary from one location to another. Travelers hoping to catch the remaining color may want to explore different elevations and scenic routes throughout the region.
