(SEYMOUR, Tenn.) SMOKIES.LIVE – Seymour Intermediate School invited community members out on Friday to read to students.
Dozens of community leaders from Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs, the University of Tennessee Spirit Team, the Titanic and Dollywood performers all taking part in reading to the students.
You have to hear the kids sing to thank the community readers for participating in the event.
Teachers say this helps to build excitement around reading. This is part of the Read Across America event nationwide.
March 2nd is Read Across America Day in the United States. The initiative that encourages children to read is celebrated on Dr. Seuss’ Birthday since 1998.
