Cooler temperatures, lower humidity and plenty of sunshine make this a perfect weekend for a Smoky Mountain adventure.
GATLINBURG, Tenn. (Smokies.LIVE Storm Center) — We love the mountains — and this weekend is a great reminder why!
If you’ve been waiting for a break from the summer heat, you’ve got one coming. Temperatures will be less hot and less humid, with plenty of opportunities to get outside and enjoy the Great Smoky Mountains.
And yes, there could be a few rain drops — but don’t let a little rain keep you inside! A passing shower can be part of the Smoky Mountain experience, and the payoff this weekend is some really comfortable mountain weather.
🏈 FRIDAY NIGHT
If you’re heading out to a high school football game, an early downpour is possible, especially around the start of some games.
Otherwise, look for partly cloudy and dry conditions with temperatures falling into the upper 60s.
🌤️ SATURDAY & SUNDAY
This is where the forecast gets really nice.
Both Saturday and Sunday will feature partly cloudy to mostly sunny skies, with lower humidity and temperatures in the mid to upper 80s around Gatlinburg.

🌙 Overnight lows: Mid-upper 60s
For perspective, the average high in Gatlinburg this time of year is around 85 degrees — so we’re talking about temperatures right around where they should be.
Meanwhile, western North Carolina will be even cooler, with low 80s expected Saturday and Sunday. Saturday could feature a spot shower or thunderstorm, but most of the day should be sunny and less humid.

The comfortable pattern continues for a while.
Expect partly cloudy skies with highs generally in the upper 80s to near 90 and lows in the upper 60s.
The best chance for a shower or thunderstorm comes Wednesday.
And across western North Carolina, some morning temperatures could even dip into the 50s next week.
