(GATLINBURG, Tenn.) SMOKIES.LIVE – Ober Mountain has expanded ski options on the mountain with cold weather and snowmaking abilities just in time for the holiday weekend.
This weekend Ober Mountain will have the following slopes open:
– Ski School hill
– Cub Way
– Castle Run
-Lower Bear
– Upper Bear
– Ober Chute
– Yeti’s Run
– Mogul Ridge
And for activities:
– Ice Skating
– Cloud Catcher Zipline
– Sky Village scenic lift
– Tennessee Flyer Mountain Coaster
– Climbing Wall
– Carousel
Ice bumper cars are closed this weekend for the holiday. The Gatlinburg Tram is closed Friday for maintenance, but will hopefully reopen Saturday.

Ober Mountain reopened a popular, longer ski run, Ober Chute on Monday after cold weather allowed for a lot of snowmaking. Ober Chute would take skiers from the top of the Ober Mountain Ski area and is considered an intermediate trial.
“We’re hoping to get Mogul Ridge open later this week,” said Tyler Shultz, Senior Marketing Director for Ober Mountain. “That’s our steepest and most extreme terrain. And that’s a black diamond. That should be opening later this week as long as we can get a little more snow on there.”
Mogul Ridge is the steepest advanced terrain in the Southeast.
“Going into a holiday weekend it’s vital to have good snow coverage on the mountain, especially when we have a good amount of people who visit the area on a holiday weekend,” Shultz said. “In Gatlinburg in the winter there’s not a whole lot of other things to do.”
Slopes open Monday 01/12, 10am – 8pm: Upper Bear Run, Upper & Lower Castle Run, Cub Way, and the Ski School Slope, with the Terrain Park set up on Lower Castle Run.

Ober Mountain features 10 diverse trails across 38 skiable acres, catering to all skill levels. With a vertical drop of 500 feet and the longest run stretching nearly a mile, the ski area offers a balanced mix of terrain.
