(WAYNESVILLE, N.C.) SMOKIES.LIVE – The Town of Waynesville has said water service has been restored. Customers do not need to take extra steps to conserve water at this time.
Water Treatment Plant staff have taken bacteriological samples of the water to test for any organisms or bacteria. These tests take 24 hours to get results. Therefore, a Boil Water Advisory is still in effect.

Residents on the Waynesville water lines are being asked to conserve water. A 12″ line broke on Sunday morning leaving a lot of water running down the street and depleting half the town’s water storage.
Customers are also still asked to boil water until the lines are completely repaired.
Camp Branch Road from Browning Road and Allens Creek Road remains closed while staff make repairs to the water line.

The Town of Waynesville said customers were experiencing low water pressure to no water at times due to a distribution system line break.
A boil water advisory has been issued for anyone using the water as these situations can lead to bacteria in the water.

The water consumers of Town of Waynesville in Haywood County are experiencing periods of low pressure and outages in the distribution system due to a line break. Periods of low or no pressure in the distribution system increases the potential for back siphonage and introduction of bacteria into the water system.
Therefore, when water service is restored, consumers are advised to boil all water used for human consumption (including drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes and food preparation) or use bottled water.
Vigorous boiling for one (1) minute should kill any organisms that may be present in the water.
Water customers are strongly urged to conserve water whenever possible. This advisory remains in effect until further written notification is issued.

According to a documentary I watched about ancient Egypt, boiling water is what saved the ancient Egyptians from the polluted water in the Nile. They were making beer, but the process they used included boiling their water first. Throughout history, mankind has explored numerous avenues to achieve filtering water through mechanics other than boiling their water. No matter the research, the systems used, and in obtaining sterile drinking water, the results have been the same. Only through boiling water, are humans sure that organisms that spread disease are eliminated. These same organisms, however, also are necessary to invoke our immune systems to fight the organisms. Boiling water takes away our body’s resistance to these organisms and in doing so, our immune systems are not prepared for the introduction to our systems. If we have those organisms present, our body naturally creates a tolerance and ability to fight off the dangerous amounts of that organism. If our bodies continuously are introduced to whichever organism it is that is causing harm, we can indefinitely be protected from the damage that organism can do. I’m not saying that we should all drink boiled water, I’m not saying we should all drink city water or well water. What I am stating is that our exposure to certain organisms (whether we can see them or not) is crucial in utilizing our immune systems and also our ability to rely on healthcare/traditional methods/new research. With good roots, plants can grow and produce good fruits. Plants rely on the nutrients in their soil, the organisms in the water, and their other environmental factors to produce their fruits. That makes me believe that every moment, every influence, and every natural defense we are given from God is required in maintaining health, spread God’s love, and spreading his incredible LOVE.
