Businesses open during the snow in Sevier County

(SEVIERVILLE, Tenn.) SMOKIES.LIVE – A handful of businesses were able to open on Saturday with nearly a foot of snow on the ground.

If you are looking for things to do, and can safely get out, you can find, attractions and shopping to entertain the family.

In Gatlinburg, Ober Mountain opened for a day on the slopes. The ski resort at 10 slopes and 3 lifts operating on Saturday.

• Slopes open today, Saturday 01/31, 9am – 9pm: Mogul Ridge, Yeti’s Run, Ober Chute, Upper & Lower Bear Run, Grizzly (closes at 5pm), Cub Way, Upper & Lower Castle, and the Ski School Slope, with the Terrain Park set up on Lower Bear.

The resort reported a based of 40 – 50″ with powder and groomed snow. They are able to continue making snow with 11″ of new natural snow.

In Pigeon Forge, The Island offered the Great Smoky Mountain Wheel for scenic views of Pigeon Forge with a blanket of snow.

The Island reported that Paula Deen’s Family Kitchen was closed, but Auntie Anne’s and Cinnabon were open. For other activities Parrot Mountain and Ole Smoky Distillery were open for business.

Check with The Island as some businesses may close early due to the weather and staff safety.

In Sevierville, Wilderness at the Smokies is open for some indoor water park fun. The park offers day passes for locals and visitors and is open for 80 degrees and warm water on a snowy day in the Smokies.
