(KNOXVILLE, Tenn.) SMOKIES.LIVE – Those not participating in the Covenant Health Knoxville Marathon can still watch the activities.
This is a whole community event that takes runners, volunteers and even sponsors according to race leaders.
“It really takes a sense of community. All of East Tennessee pours into this whether they’re a volunteer, participant, spectating, they want to sponsor the event, it’s a great way to show community in our event,” said Jason Altman with the Covenant Health Knoxville Marathon.
The Knoxville Track Club is among the top ten largest track and field clubs in the U.S. The marathon started in 2005.

Best Spots to Watch
Start Line – All events start on the Clinch Avenue Bridge, so you will be able to see your friend start. Both the marathon and half marathon courses will come through one block away (on World’s Fair Park Drive) at mile 12.5.
Western Plaza – Located at the 4400 block of Kingston Pike, Western Plaza has long been a hot spot for full and half marathon spectators. This location is a great place to see triumphant faces of participants who have just conquered “The Hill” at Noelton Drive. With live bands, a water stop sponsored by Runners Market, and rowdy fans, this location is one of the favorites among runners and spectators alike!
Tyson Park – Located just off of Cumberland Avenue, you’ll see runners and walkers come through this area as they travel down Third Creek Greenway.
Caswell Park – Located in the beautiful Parkridge neighborhood, Caswell Park is a great location to spot marathoners as they travel near the 16th mile.
Island Home – Island Home won “Best Neighborhood” for several years. This is approximately miles 21-23, so the marathoners need your support!
Finish Line – The finish line will be located at World’s Fair Park for the event. This will be a great location to cheer on and congratulate participants!
