(SEVIERVILLE, Tenn.) SMOKIES.LIVE – The beautiful sunshine through the weekend also comes with a threat.
There are three issues coming together that will lead to an increased fire threat for the weekend and into next week. Low humidity, dry conditions and light winds can spread a spark across an area quickly to create a wildfire danger.
Gatlinburg has suspended burn permits until further notice and in North Carolina a burn ban is in place.
There’s limited moisture in the next seven days. Rain doesn’t move into the forecast until late next week and even at that we’re only looking at a few tenths of an inch in isolated area at best.
Those of you looking for a hike, those mid to low elevation hikes are still comfortable with the low humidity and low 80s over the weekend. There’s still limited leaves on the trees giving some stunning views.
