(ALCOA, Tenn.) SMOKIES.LIVE – Anyone traveling on Alcoa Highway near the airport on Monday needs to be aware of a traffic change that could impact your drive.
Traffic will be redirected starting on Monday for folks leaving the airport and traveling towards Knoxville. You will now need to use the Hunt Road Exit to return to Alcoa Highway to head north.
This closure will last for several weeks while crews work on a sewer line installation.

HERE’S THE MESSAGE FROM MGHEE TYSON AIRPORT
Traffic Notice: Starting Monday, May 4, visitors traveling to northbound Alcoa Highway (toward Knoxville) will be redirected to the southbound lane and will use the Hunt Road Exit to return to Alcoa Highway heading north.
This detour is necessary while crews install a new storm sewer line and begin paving the new roadway system. This northbound on-ramp closure is expected to last a few weeks.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we complete these important improvements.
