(GATLINBURG, Tenn.) SMOKIES.LIVE – Anakeesta announced last year a $100M expansion project which starts in 2026 with four projects to improve visitor experiences.
When you arrive to Ankeesta on the Parkway in Gatlinburg, you’ll quickly notice to the new Crystal Express lift system. Then once you arrive on the top of the mountain, you’ll see the new Firefly Village.
The village comes with expanded walkways, enhanced architecture and cascading waterfalls. But there’s more! When night settles in, you’ll get to experience one of the natural phenomena only a few people a year get to experience in the national park.
Anakeesta said new Firefly Experience will be a year-round journey inspired by one of nature’s most magical displays.
“Woven throughout the reimagined Treetop Skywalk, this immersive experience brings the phenomenon of synchronous fireflies to life through glowing pathways, choreographed lighting, and storytelling that captures the mystery and beauty of the mountains after dusk,” the park said.
The Firefly Experience is scheduled to debut in Spring 2026.
