(GATLINBURG, Tenn.) SMOKIES.LIVE – Anakeesta said their five-year expansion project starts in 2026 with four expanded experiences.
In 2026, visitors will ride the new Crystal Express to the top of the mountain and then enter the park with a new Firefly Village. While at night the village becomes an experience like no other in the mountains.
One of the favorites for the kids and the adventurous adults is the Treetop Skywalk. This is the longest tree-based Skywalk in North America.
New in 2026 are expanded canopy pathways that lead to new towers with a reward at the end. That reward is a window with some of the most breathtaking views of the mountains visitors will see.
“We have three new towers, four new canopy bridges, very exciting, very iconic views of downtown Gatlinburg,” said Bob Bentz, Founding Partner of Anakeesta.
Bentz said in addition to that is the new nighttime immersive light experience that showcases the synchronous fireflies on the canopy walk.
“We have lighting, laser lights, to reimagine the fireflies here in the Smokies,” he added.
Bentz said the new Firefly Experience will open on June 11, 2026.
