The Sevierville community came together on Wednesday to play golf and raise money for the upcoming Smoky Bear Football season.
(SEVIERVILLE, Tenn.) SMOKIES.LIVE – From uniforms, travel, hats, shirts and much more, it can be expensive to outfit an entire football team. The community came together on Wednesday to help offset those costs.
On Wednesday afternoon, dozens of teams headed to the Sevierville Golf Club to support a championship team looking for championship season ahead.
“Football went on the up and up and ready to get guys out to see the players see that the guys that play on the field without a helmet that’s a big part of it for the players for like shirts hoodies equipment anything that we need,” said Logan McCarter.
This is the fifth year McCarter has organized the golf tournament. He said growing expenses come with new technology.
“A lot of expenses, especially when with the growing age of kind of technology in the jerseys uniforms and stuff like that kids want the best and so we try to provide that for our kids and I feel like we’ve done a pretty good job Coach love day stays on it on top of it pretty good just to get what they want,” he added.
So, with every swing and every person coming out to play golf and meet the team, this helps fulfill McCarter’s hope to give the financial support for the best season ahead.
“I think this year we got 32 teams, which is still really good for us. It’ll help move a little faster today, but yeah monetary amount, I just try to raise as much as I can get as many teams out here and get as many eyeballs as I can on Sevier County Football,” said McCarter.
The team will open up the season at home against Farragut on August 22, 2026.
