Flooding Forces Evacuation of Jefferson County Home; Officials Warn Against Travel.
(JEFFERSON COUNTY, Tenn.) SMOKIES.LIVE — Four people were evacuated from a home in Jefferson County after rising floodwaters threatened the residence west of State Route 92 on Piedmont Road, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s office said runoff and flooding made roads in the area hazardous, prompting officials to urge motorists not to travel.
“DO NOT TRAVEL!” the agency warned in a public advisory, citing dangerous conditions caused by running water across roadways.
Emergency responders safely evacuated the four occupants of the home as water continued to rise. No injuries were immediately reported.
Authorities urged residents to avoid flooded roads and to use caution as crews continue monitoring conditions in the area.
