MARYVILLE, Tenn. (SMOKIES.LIVE) — Local artists have an opportunity to leave a lasting mark on downtown Maryville through a new public art initiative.
City officials are seeking artists to create original designs for eight traffic signal cabinet wraps that will add color and creativity throughout the downtown district.
Organizers are encouraging artists of all styles, including realistic, abstract and whimsical, to submit concepts inspired by East Tennessee’s history, landscapes, wildlife or culture.
The project is designed to transform everyday traffic signal cabinets into public works of art while celebrating the community’s unique identity and supporting local artists.
Artists interested in participating must submit an idea and interest form by July 22. Selected designs will be featured on traffic signal cabinets in downtown Maryville, creating a permanent outdoor gallery for residents and visitors to enjoy.
Officials say the initiative aims to enhance the downtown streetscape while showcasing the creativity and talent found throughout the region.
