Ole Knoxville Highway in Sevierville has reopened following an investigation into a possible explosive device.
SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. (SMOKIES.LIVE) — Sevierville Police say Old Knoxville Highway has reopened.

Authorities are investigating a possible explosive device discovered inside a vehicle along Old Knoxville Highway, prompting road closures and evacuations in eastern Sevier County.
Officers with the Sevierville Police Department and deputies with the Sevier County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 1000 block of Old Knoxville Highway, where they are investigating a possible small explosive device inside a vehicle.
As a precaution, Old Knoxville Highway has been closed between Gists Creek Road and Love Road while the investigation continues. Officials also evacuated nearby homes and businesses out of an abundance of caution.
The Sevier County Interagency Hazardous Devices Unit is on the scene assisting with the investigation.
Authorities have not released additional details about the device, how it was discovered, or whether anyone has been injured.
Motorists are urged to avoid the area and use alternate routes until the roadway reopens. The investigation remains active.
