KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The Knoxville Police Department is urging motorists to avoid several flooded roadways as heavy rain continues to cause flash flooding across the city Sunday night.

The following roads are currently impacted by flooding:

  • Dutch Valley Drive at Coster Road
  • Central Street at Coram Street and Bruhin Road
  • 600 Bernard Avenue
  • Baxter Avenue at the railroad tracks
  • Northbound Henley Street at the tunnel

Police said city crews are actively checking additional locations where flooding has been reported.

Motorists are urged to use extreme caution and avoid driving through flooded roadways. Even shallow water can conceal hazards or sweep vehicles off the road.

Anyone who encounters a flooded roadway is asked to report it by calling 865-215-4010.

The flooding comes as the National Weather Service continues to warn of heavy rainfall across parts of Knox, Blount and Sevier counties, with flash flooding and minor flooding reported in several communities.
