SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. (SMOKIES.LIVE) — The National Weather Service in Morristown has issued a Flood Advisory for portions of northeastern Blount County and northwestern Sevier County as heavy thunderstorms continue to move across East Tennessee.

The advisory remains in effect until midnight EDT.

As of 9:26 p.m., Doppler radar indicated heavy rain falling across the advisory area. Forecasters said an additional 1 to 2 inches of rainfall is expected, which could lead to minor flooding in low-lying and poor-drainage areas.

Communities included in the advisory include Sevierville, Pigeon Forge, Seymour, Walland, Wildwood and McMahan.

Drivers are urged to use caution on area roads, especially in locations prone to flooding. Water can quickly collect on roadways during periods of heavy rain, making travel hazardous.

Residents should continue to monitor weather conditions and avoid driving through flooded streets, even if water appears shallow.
