If you’re traveling through downtown Knoxville this week, plan for daytime road closures as crews complete wastewater system improvements.
KUB contractor crews will close portions of Williams Street and W. Fifth Avenue on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., beginning Monday, July 27, through Monday, Aug. 10.
Affected roads include:
- Williams Street between W. Magnolia Avenue and W. Fifth Avenue
- W. Fifth Avenue between Williams Street and N. Gay Street
Motorists should use N. Central Street, W. Magnolia Avenue and N. Gay Street as alternate routes during work hours.
The roads will reopen to normal traffic each afternoon after work concludes, but sidewalks adjacent to the construction zone will remain closed during active work hours.
If you’re commuting to downtown Knoxville or visiting the area, allow a few extra minutes for your drive and watch for posted detours.
