Drivers should expect single-lane closures and possible delays as crews complete essential roadside maintenance.
GATLINBURG, Tenn. — Visitors traveling between Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge should plan for possible delays this week as the Great Smoky Mountains National Park begins scheduled maintenance work on the Gatlinburg Spur.
Beginning Monday, July 27, crews will conduct essential roadside maintenance requiring single-lane closures.
For those of you unfamiliar with the Spur, this is the road that connects Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg through the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
Travel impacts include:
- July 27-28: Single-lane closures on the northbound Spur — the section of road traveling from Gatlinburg toward Pigeon Forge.
- July 29-30: Single-lane closures on the southbound Spur — the section of road traveling from Pigeon Forge toward Gatlinburg.
- Closures will be in place each day from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Drivers should expect possible traffic delays and are encouraged to slow down and use extra caution through work zones.
Maintenance crews will be completing several projects along the roadway, including mowing and pruning, ditch and culvert cleaning, litter pickup and debris removal.
