Officials urge caution for anyone planning recreational activities on local rivers and streams.
SEVIER COUNTY, Tenn. — Following recent rainfall, Sevier County Emergency Management is reminding residents and visitors to use extra caution when enjoying local waterways.
Some rivers and streams are currently elevated, creating potentially hazardous conditions for recreational activities. Officials say the risk is especially higher for individuals without whitewater experience or those who do not have the proper safety equipment, including a properly fitted life jacket.
Before entering any waterway, officials recommend checking current conditions and using extreme caution.
“If you are uncertain about water conditions, do not enter the water,” Sevier County Emergency Management said.
Safety officials encourage everyone to continue monitoring local weather updates and follow any additional guidance issued by local authorities.
