Sevierville man built bridges, worked the land and remained a cherished member of the Parton family.
SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. — Long before the world knew the Parton family name, Coy “Denver” Parton was living a life built on hard work, family and the traditions of the Smoky Mountains.
Denver Parton, the brother of country music superstar Dolly Parton, passed away Thursday, July 23, 2026, at the age of 82 in Sevierville.
While his sister became an international icon, Denver created his own legacy through a lifetime of dedication to his family, his work and the East Tennessee mountains he called home.
For many years, Denver worked as a crane operator, helping build bridges across the region. Away from the job site, he found joy as a homestead farmer and avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and the simple rhythms of mountain life.
Born into the close-knit Parton family, Denver was one of several children of Lee Parton and Avie Lee Owens Parton. The family’s story, filled with music, faith and perseverance, became one of the most recognized in the world through Dolly’s career — but each sibling carried their own memories and contributions.
Denver’s life was centered around the people he loved most. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Parton; his parents; brothers Larry, David, Randy and Floyd Parton; niece Tever Parton; and brothers-in-law Carl Dean and Ray Buzzeo.
He is survived by his daughters, Chris Parton and Jennifer Parton; grandson Ian Parton and fiancée Taylor York; brother Bobby Parton; and sisters Willadeene Buzzeo, Dolly Parton, Stella Parton, Cassie Griffith, Freida Parton, Rachel George and Laura Price.
Services will be private. Arrangements are being handled by Atchley Funeral Home.
