UPDATE — Travelers flying with American Airlines should prepare for possible delays and disruptions after the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) ordered a nationwide ground stop Tuesday because of a reported information technology outage.

According to the FAA, all American Airlines flights have been grounded nationwide while the airline works to resolve the issue.

At this time:

  • ✈️ All American Airlines departures are affected nationwide.
  • ⚠️ The cause of the IT outage has not yet been determined.
  • ⏳ There is no estimated time for when normal operations will resume.

If you have a flight scheduled with American Airlines, check your flight status before leaving for the airport and expect delays or possible cancellations as the situation develops.
