Water treatment plant upgrades will impact traffic in the 900 block of River Road during daytime hours.
GATLINBURG, Tenn. — Motorists traveling through downtown Gatlinburg should plan for delays next week as utility work will temporarily reduce traffic on a portion of River Road.
The Gatlinburg Utilities Department will conduct work associated with upgrades to the Gatlinburg Water Treatment Plant, requiring a lane closure in the 900 block of River Road.
The closure will be in effect Monday, Aug. 3, through Friday, Aug. 7, with crews working daily from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m.
Traffic will be maintained with flaggers and other traffic control measures, but drivers should expect delays while traveling through the area.
Officials encourage motorists to use alternate routes whenever possible and to use extra caution by watching for lane shifts, following posted signs and remaining alert for crews working along the roadway.
