Two East Tennessee hospital leaders named to national list of women to know

Covenant Health executives recognized by Becker’s for leadership, patient care and community impact.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (Smokies.LIVE Health Center) — Two East Tennessee hospital leaders are being recognized nationally for their work advancing patient care and strengthening their communities.

Tab Culbertson, president and chief administrative officer of Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center, and Connie Martin, president and chief administrative officer of Covenant Health Fort Loudoun, have been named to Becker’s 2026 Women Hospital and Health System Presidents and CEOs to Know list.

The annual recognition highlights women in healthcare executive roles who are helping shape the future of hospitals and health systems across the country.

Covenant Health officials say both leaders have made patient-centered care and their communities a priority.

“Both leaders are making a lasting impact through their focus on quality, patient-centered care and operational excellence,” said Mike Belbeck, executive vice president of operations for Covenant Health. “I am proud to see their contributions recognized nationally.”

Culbertson became president of Fort Sanders Regional in 2025. Since then, she has worked with physicians and caregivers to strengthen the medical center while keeping patients at the center of decision-making.

Martin has led Fort Loudoun through continued growth while focusing on healthcare access, patient care and relationships throughout Loudon County.

Under Martin’s leadership, the Brethen Foundation Advanced Care Wing opened in fall 2025. The $15 million expansion added 26 private patient rooms and an 11-bed intensive care unit.

Belbeck said the recognition reflects more than the executives’ professional accomplishments.

The Becker’s list recognizes women hospital and health system leaders from across the country for their influence, leadership and contributions to healthcare.
