Data Error Sevier County, TN Local Weather Alerts
There was an error retrieving the National Weather Service alert data.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (Smokies.LIVE Storm Center) — Strong thunderstorms that moved through the Knoxville area last night caused significant tree damage, prompting the temporary closure of a portion of a popular trail.

A section of the outer loop trail along Northshore Drive, behind the pickleball courts, is currently closed as crews work to secure the area and remove storm debris.

Officials are warning visitors to stay away from large trees and hanging limbs, which can remain dangerous even after a storm has passed.

“Please DO NOT walk under this tree or any large hanging limbs in the Park,” officials said.

Staff are working to tape off hazardous areas and clean up the damage as quickly and safely as possible.

Visitors are asked to respect all closures and use caution around storm-damaged areas until they have been cleared.

Smokies.LIVE Storm Center will continue tracking storm damage and weather conditions across East Tennessee.
