GATLINBURG, Tenn. (Smokies.LIVE Adventure Center) — Gatlinburg is in the running for a national title celebrating one of the most popular times of year in the Smoky Mountains — and the destination is currently No. 5 in the voting among 20 nominees.

Gatlinburg has been nominated for USA TODAY 10Best’s Best Place to Visit for Fall, giving travelers and Gatlinburg fans across the country a chance to help showcase the destination’s signature autumn experience.

Known for its mountain scenery, vibrant fall foliage and abundance of seasonal experiences, Gatlinburg offers plenty of ways to enjoy the fall season — from scenic drives and outdoor adventures to seasonal events, local dining and attractions.

USA TODAY 10Best readers can vote for Gatlinburg once each day through Monday, Sept. 7, at 11:59 a.m. EDT.

The top 10 destinations selected by readers will be announced Wednesday, Sept. 16, at noon EDT.
