James B. Dunn, 79, was booked Thursday and released less than an hour later, according to jail records. Assistant District Attorney William Brownlow Marsh has also been arrested in Sevier County and is facing two charges of official oppression.
SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. (Smokies.LIVE Information Center) — Sevier County District Attorney General James B. Dunn was booked Thursday by the Sevier County Sheriff’s Office on multiple felony charges, according to jail records.
Dunn, 79, of Newport, was booked at 4:18 p.m. Aug. 27. The booking record lists him as a pretrial felon.
The charges listed are:
- Two counts of official oppression
- Official misconduct
- Retaliation for past action
- Coercion of a state witness
- Civil rights intimidation
The booking record lists no bond amount for the charges.

We were ripped off by a contractor, Marcus Shane Orford, a huge amount and we were not the only ones. He took at least 2 other people here in Sevier county. Orford was arrested in Johnson city,TN last year before Christmas and the state of Florida ( Jacksonville) came and took him back there on felony charges. Acting like a contractor and ripping people off. According to the Deputy invistgator in Sevier county our illustrious DA would not press charges against Orford since we had no written contract but have multiple text messages,conversations and signed checks for services that were not performed. Makes sense now!!!
