Landslide repairs temporarily block access to trail and road near Highway 276

MILLS RIVER, N.C. (Smokies.LIVE Travel Center) — Bradley Creek Trail (TR351) and a section of Yellow Gap Road (FS Road 1206) near milepost 6.7 from Highway 276 are temporarily closed to all traffic.

The closure applies to hikers, bicyclists and equestrians, as well as motorists.

Crews are repairing damage caused by a landslide during a previous weather event. The area was further impacted by Hurricane Helene, causing additional damage.

Construction will make the section of Yellow Gap Road where Bradley Creek Trail crosses the road impassable while repairs are underway.

Officials expect the closure to remain in place for at least two weeks.

Travelers and outdoor enthusiasts are asked to avoid the area and plan an alternate route until the repairs are complete.

The closure will remain in effect until crews can safely reopen the road and trail.
