PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. (Smokies.LIVE Information Center) — Wear Farm Park in Pigeon Forge was temporarily closed Saturday, Nov. 7, after a nuisance bear was reported in the area.

City officials said the closure was made out of an abundance of caution to allow Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency staff access to address the bear.

The park will remain closed until further notice and is expected to reopen as soon as possible.

During the closure, residents and visitors can use several alternative recreational areas, including Patriot Park at 186 Old Mill Ave., Community Center Park at 170 Community Center Drive and Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

Officials are asking the public to avoid Wear Farm Park until it reopens.

Updates will be shared on the City of Pigeon Forge’s Facebook page.
